Season 3 Season 5

"Do You See What I See" is the twenty-first (Christmas) episode of the fourth season of Eureka.

Crashing over Eureka, a wave of color changes the town to animation of multiple styles and cartoonish effects, including Jack's jeep coming alive, ANDY being turned into an animated robot, and Jo becoming a princess. All this caused by the Super Photon Generator, a massive holographic matrix meant as Jack's Christmas gift for the kids (with help from Fargo). It turns out that the gift the kids opened crossed signals with the Super Photon Generator. As the episode goes on, with the main characters aware of the changing animations, the kids add villainous Snow Ninjas to spice up the story. As Jack, Andy, Allison, and Jo make it to the generator, they see Dr. Drummer- a scientist from the last holiday special- trying to fix the generator; but as he is, the snow ninjas join to create a 50-foot snow monster. As the others fight the Snow Ninja Monster, Allison, Andy, and Dr. Drummer finally repair the generator, returning everyone to normal perspective. At the end of the episode, everyone gets together for a Christmas dinner at the smart house.

In Eureka's "Do You See What I See," the quaint town of geniuses is transformed into animated versions of themselves. Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) are secretly planning the perfect holiday surprise for their kids. But a mysterious kaleidoscopic wave of color crashes over Eureka, leaving the entire town and its inhabitants animated. Leading production and entertainment company Curious Pictures will produce the animation featured in the episode, which will be broken up into different styles including Anime, claymation, animation inspired by the Looney Tunes cartoons and cartoons.

Memorable Quotes

  • The characters tend to be affected by the animation format in which they find themselves, but not necessarily fundamentally changed. They often reflect the philosophy of the style, however, in their manner of dealing with difficulties, with, for example, the anime editions favoring head-on physical confrontation.
  • "Do You See What I See" along with another holiday repeat from Warehouse 13 both re-aired on December 14 and 21, 2012 respectively as replacements for the final two Season three episodes of Haven in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that took place hours before the airing of the show's penultimate episode, which coincidentally deals with murders taking place in a school building. What's interesting to note is that Colin Ferguson would go on to appear on Haven in a recurring role in addition to directing the episode "Just Passing Through".
