Irvin Horatio Thatcher is a retired Global Dynamics researcher living in a retirement facility in Eureka.
Sometime in the 1960s, Dr. Thatcher had everything. His work on the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction was going to win him the Nobel Prize and he was going to propose to the love of his life - Eugenia.
Everything fell apart when Thatcher lost the Nobel to Linus Pauling. He had a mental breakdown which ended his career and his relationship. He would eventually end up in a retirement facility for elderly scientists, where he spent his time wandering the halls talking to himself or in his room, staring at an image of the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
A series of events that began with Douglas Fargo and Spencer Martin accidentally activating Thatcher's ionosphere particle beam weapon and ending with a fake Nobel Prize presentation (using Nathan Stark's real medal) would see Irvin regain his mental faculties and reunite with Eugenia.
