United States Department of Defense, or the U.S. D.O.D., is heavily involved with Eureka's inventing firm Global Dynamics, and, indeed, oversees it. The Department of Defense also has a major influence on the position of the current Sheriff and Deputy post. However, they cannot truly fire a law enforcement officer in Eureka without the written consent of the mayor, as Henry Deacon establishes, with Deputy ANDY's help.
