"You Don't Know Jack" is the sixteenth episode of the third season of Eureka.
Synopsis[]
This episode was filled with flash-backs, but maintained a normal plotline. Tess' plan to create a memory archive for Eureka intersects with a 'cleanse' for GD - with disastrous results.
Plot[]
Open with Tess showing Zoe a "Storycatcher," a glowing orb-like device that catches memories for Global Dynamic's living video diary. And we have a... flashback of Jo and Zoe first meeting.
Afterwards Carter tells everyone he needs to leave for birthing class. Tess makes sure to hand him a storycatcher before he departs.
Carter meets Allison, who tells him GD is being shut down for a sonic cleaning. A Dr. Kinnison rolls in to explain that a sonic cleaning is an acoustic process that sterilizes the entire facility in two days. Carter agrees to help Allison clean GD of all outstanding projects.
We cut to Fargo watching flashbacks of all of his screwups. Kinnison catches Fargo in Tess' office and tells him to clear out before the sonic sterilization begins. Fargo takes offense to the fact that all the memories of him are his screw-ups and erases them, before leaving.
Carter and Allison run into Dr. Bubay who seems not to recall an experiment he was working on just as it explodes behind him. Bubay doesn't realize he is in his own lab and can't remember his female partner, Dr. Ashe.
Zoe struggles to think of memories of Eureka leading to... Vincent flashbacks.
Carter meets up with Ashe, who also doesn't remember anything. We see that she has a storycatcher in her pocket.
Allison tells Carter the Bubay and Ashe are suffering from an acute from of selected memory loss which could get worse. Carter has Kinnison push back the cleaning while he checks Tess' lab. He wonders whether the storycatchers could erase memories. He puts on a device to watch the memories and the sonic cleaning timer kicks on. Allison is unable to shut it down and the pair has an hour to get out of GD before they will be killed.
Sitting at Café Diem, Kinnison is unable to figure out the emergency beep he received when Allison tried to shut down the cleaning. Jo is also having trouble with their memories, leading to... flashbacks from Henry.
Putting back on the headset, Carter tells it to find memories of Fargo. However, the only thing that comes up with his name is a dream fantasy that happened in the episode Noche de Suenos showing him as a Zorro-like hero, defeating Stark to protect Jo's virtue. Allison reasons that Fargo probably messed with memories to improve people's recollection of him. Unfortunately, this means that anyone who has contributed to the video time capsule are also having memories erased because their minds are linked to it.
Allison has an idea for fixing the problem, then starts having more trouble with her memory. Allison doesn't believe Carter when he tells her she is losing memories of her life. She also doesn't remember him at all. Carter hands her the time capsule headset and tells her to ask for memories of Jack Carter and Allison Blake. Memories fly by.
Carter suggests they contact Café Diem. They page Zoe with a 911 that they're stuck in Tess' lab. Tess asks for help but nobody in the café can remember what's going on.
Carter says the last flashback helped Allison remember things, so he tells her to ask for memories of her and Nathan Stark. Allison removes the headset with tears streaming down her face. Just after they get a reminder that the sonic cleaning will happen in 15 minutes, Allison tells him she in labor.
With ten minutes left before cleaning, Zoe and Tess arrive at GD to try and get Allison and Carter out.
Allison can't override the system. Carter tries to reassure Allison just as Zoe walks in. With five minutes left it seems Tess hasn't been able to shut down the cleaning.
Carter finds Tess, who doesn't remember him at all. Carter explains what is happening with two minutes left. To jog her memory, he reminds her of their time together and kisses her. This works, and she's able to shut off the cleaning with 9 seconds to spare.
Allison starts pushing as they bring Fargo into the lab. While Zoe delivers the baby (and discovers a new direction for her studies) with help from Carter, the baby crowns just as Fargo returns everyone's memories. The baby is born as more flashbacks of Eureka are shown.
Carter hands Allison a baby girl, whom Allison introduces to everyone as Jenna Stark.
